A PRESTATYN food bank has received a record breaking raft of donations for its Christmas hampers.

With help from newly formed Prestatyn charity Love: North Wales and shoppers at the town's Tesco, the Prestatyn & Meliden food bank has been able to form about 200 packages for families in need this year.

Heather Norris, project manager at the foodbank based at the Alive church, said: "A huge thank you to everyone that donated cash or items to us the response this year has been amazing.

Thanks to our wonderful volunteers for committing so much effort and time, and thanks to the newly formed charity Love: North Wales who have been invaluable not only fantastic donations, but a team of extra volunteers to wrap boxes."

The food bank and FareShare scheme will be closed until Tuesday, January 7, but is still operating an emergency only service for food parcels available by calling 07722749773.
