After years dedicated service to Herefordshire Football, Jim and Val Lambert have left Herefordshire FA.

Last year the Football Association conducted an independent review of the association, including its structure and its operations, and in September this led to the board of HFA agreeing a number of recommendations.

The recommendation to make the role of finance director redundant has led to the departure of Jim Lambert.

In addition, Val Lambert has resigned from her duties with the Herefordshire County League with immediate effect.

A statement by the Herefordshire FA said: “Jim joined the association in 1980 as a council member following a number of years as an active referee.

"He became part-time secretary in 1997 and full-time county secretary in 2002, a role that evolved to chief executive officer and he held this role until 2018. Jim then became finance director and retained a place on the board.

“Val has been at the HFA as an administrator since 2001, becoming office manager and developed an encyclopaedic knowledge of football in the county.

"Latterly, Val has lead on the administration of the county league following its formation in 2016, with Jim becoming chairman.

“Both Jim and Val have been at the centre of a number of major developments involving HFA and football in Herefordshire.

"We are sure the local football community would like to join us in recording our thanks and sincere gratitude for the years of service that they have given to football in the county and wish them all the best for their retirement.”

Both will be honoured at the forthcoming HFA Annual Dinner on March 6.
