A ROSS Golf Club teenager is celebrating a successful season which has seen him win a host of trophies.
Matty Dobbs, aged 17, was introduced to golf in 2013 when at Brampton Abbots Primary School and the Ross Golf Club's head professional Tim Hall attended with the sports 'Tri-Golf' initiative.
Since then Dobbs has gone from strength to strength. After starting with a handicap of 54 the youngster has now been reduced to 10 and he won several trophies in the 2019 summer season.
This culminated in him recently receiving the top award of the John Gabb Trophy at the annual awards evening of the Ross Juniors section.
Members of Ross Golf Club recently played in the Boxing Day 'Blow-Out' which was a nine-hole team competition which attracted 25 hardy souls and had a real family related eclectic mix of players.
With an outstanding 43 points stableford score including three birdies and an eagle and finishing miles ahead of the rest were Neil Lancett and the father and son combination of club professional James Dobbs and his dad Paul.
Two teams managed 35 points scores being: Joe Irvine, and Stephen and Lois Price along with juniors captain Harry Griffiths, his dad, Paul and scratch player Cam Haines.
