LIVE: Tividale v Worcester City

Our live feed has now finished.

  • FT: Tividale 0 City 1 (Brain 67)
  • HISTORY repeated itself as Sean Brain bagged the only goal in City’s second 1-0 win at Tividale inside a fortnight.
  • This time it was Midland Football League (MFL) Premier Division points up for grabs and to their credit, struggling Tivi carried a far more credible threat than in the League Cup outing.
  • Again it was scruffy and direct on a tough, heavy pitch but Brain notched nine minutes after his introduction from the bench, sharpening up City’s attack alongside fellow substitute Marco Adaggio.
  • City wobbled under aerial bombardment early on but gradually regained composure and probably edged the rest of the first half, Craig Jones nodding wide of the near post shortly before half-time from the only proper chance of the opening 45 minutes.
  • City stepped it up from the restart with Liam Lockett swinging high and wide from a Jamie Smith centre just before the hour.
  • Brain replaced the lively Demetri Brown, who hit the deck with an ankle injury, and immediately had the chance to net but alert Tivi keeper Adam Harrison quickly rushed to his feet to save the day.
  • At the other end Dan Smith might have done better from Brad Welding’s deep driven ball before Tivi wasted an absolute sitter.
  • Dan Smith turned provider with a looping ball that bounced past Darragh Bustin and City defender Joe Hawkins, dropping for Luke Carter to clear the bar when all alone from six yards at the far post.
  • A routine ball over the top helped Brain to punish that miss, scampering in behind as Welding slipped and fell, keeping his balance to wriggle past Adam Harrison and tuck into the gaping net.
  • Tivi gradually gained territory in chasing the game but flattered to deceive in the final third with Bustin’s centre bobbling by substitute Ryan Boothe.
  • City keeper Gabriel Bajrami, called up to start at 7pm with Dan Jezeph feeling ill, slapped over Boothe’s long-range drive four minutes from the end and Tivi could not muster much to worry him from there.
  • Victory moved City up 11th in the table, leapfrogging Highgate United and AFC Wulfrunians.
