DRIVERS can get their car washed and support Wyre Forest's homeless at Thompson & Parkes in Stourport this weekend.

Staff at the DIY shop in Minster Road will be handwashing visitors' cars on Saturday in exchange for a donation towards our Shuttle Run appeal.

Thompson & Parkes are volunteering their time to support our appeal with Wyre Forest homeless charity HELP in celebration of The Shuttle's 150th anniversary.

So far, the appeal has raised nearly £4,000 of its £10,000 target, which will allow HELP to buy a van to collect and deliver donations to people in need across the district.

Thompson & Parkes manager Nikki Shipton said: "We knew about the charity and the good work it was doing with homeless people in the area, and then we saw the appeal and wanted to do something to help.

"Dave Griffin, who runs the charity, puts a lot of time and effort into helping so many people who live on the streets, so I think it's important for other people to help out if they can."

Nikki and her team will be washing cars alongside HELP volunteers and collecting donations between midday and 4pm on March 14.

Could you, your school or business hold a fundraising event for The Shuttle Run appeal? It could be a non school uniform day, a cake sale or even a sponsored skydive.

Donations can be made online by clicking here.

Cheques can be sent to Kidderminster Shuttle, Second Floor, Copthall House, 1 New Road, Stourbridge DY8 1PH. Make them payable to HELP and write SHUTTLE RUN on the back.

Bank transfers should go to HELP, Lloyds Bank, account number 38430260, sort code 30-91-91.

The Shuttle will be running stories each week as we get closer to our target, so email emily.collis@newsquest.co.uk and let us know how you’re supporting the appeal!
