ANGRY residents are holding a public meeting to oppose a new Tesco plan for a store on the former Carpets of Worth factory site in Stourport.
Residents from around Power Station Road, Pinta Drive and the Worcester Road have set up the meeting to gauge local opposition.
Eddie King, a works manager, of Cutty Sark Drive, said: "If this goes ahead it will ruin the town. There are enough empty shops anyway without Tesco devastating the place.
"There is no need for another big food store in Stourport anyway. We already have a Tesco, a Co-op and a Lidl. We are only a small town.
"The noise, the air pollution and the extra traffic will be terrible."
The meeting is to be held at the Old Rose and Crown Pub on Worcester Road at 8pm tomorrow night. All interested parties are welcome.
