A SCHOOL in Kidderminster is set to completely refurbish its kindergarten classrooms ready for the September term.

The kindergarten at Winterfold School, in Chaddesley Corbett, will be kitted out with a new seating area, a separate space for eating and brand new furnishings over the summer break.

There will be an outside area for messy play, a home corner and quiet area, while children arriving in September will have access to an ActivPanel.

Plans are also in place for a new orchard and woodland to complement Winterfold's recently-developed Forest School, and children are expected to play a part in the tree planting.

Winterfold School has also announced it will be providing 30 free hours of education to the three to four-year-olds of working families through a government-funded scheme.

Headmistress Denise Toms said: “The pre-school years are an important time in children’s lives when they first learn how to interact with other children, teachers and parents and begin to develop their own interests. By introducing the 30 free hours, we are able to broaden the access to a Winterfold education.”
