HERE are some of the notable cases heard at Worcester Magistrates Court this month.

A Malvern man who assaulted a woman in the town has been handed a restraining order banning him from seeing his victim.

Jordan Arnold, of Millstone Close, appeared before magistrates on September 15 charged with two counts of assaulting a woman in Malvern on July 24 and 25 this year.

Arnold changed his plea from not guilty to guilty for the first charge, while the second charge was dismissed as no evidence was offered.

The 26 year-old was ordered to take part in 100 hours community service, as well as being handed a restraining order banning him from coming into contact with the victim.

He was also ordered to pay a £95 victim surcharge plus court costs of £250.

A trial date has been set for a Worcester man who denies using threatening or abusive words or language.

Jason Bridger pleaded not guilty to the charge when he appeared at court on September 15.

The charge alleges the 34 year-old, of Canterbury Road, used the threatening or abusive words on November 30 last year.

He denied the charge, so a trial date was set for November 13 this year at Worcester Magistrates Court.

A Droitwich man admitted using threatening or abusive words and behaviour in the town, earning himself a conditional discharge.

Jonathan Morgan, of Littlebrook, Himbleton, appeared in court on September 15 where he pleaded guilty to using threatening or abusive words or behaviour in the town on August 7 this year.

The 45 year-old was handed a 12-month conditional discharge, as well as being ordered to pay a £22 victim surcharge and £78 costs.

An Upton Upon Severn man who drove while over the legal alcohol limit has been banned from driving and fined.

54 year-old Geoffrey Wilkins, of Cottage Row, Upton, admitted driving with 66 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath in the town on August 8 this year.

Wilkins was banned from driving for 18 months, as well as being fined £323.

He was also ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and court costs of £135.
