A FORMER hospital surgeon and health service whistleblower has provided a comprehensive account of his battle with the area’s NHS trust, as part of a series of online talks.

Peter Duffy, who worked at Furness General Hospital and last year published an account of his time at Morecambe Bay Trust, this week gave a run-down of the key events in an hour-long virtual talk entitled ‘NHS Whistleblowing: the good, the bad and the the ugly’.

Mr Duffy shared his experiences of flagging concerns over alleged malpractice at UHMBT’s urology department, which led to him leaving the trust and eventually to file a successful constructive dismissal claim.

The webinar series that Mr Duffy participated in this week - in which he also offered advice to current and future whistleblowers in the health service - was hosted by the Association for Perioperative Practice.
