32 schools have sent year group bubbles home since the beginning of the term in Worcestershire, figures show.

Worcestershire County Council said the partial closures of Worcestershire schools followed 33 positive cases of coronavirus among students and staff as of Sunday, October 4.

A council spokesman said: “32 schools and colleges have had closed bubbles, 16 of which have now reopened.

"In relation to 22 of these schools, there have been 33 positive cases.

"In addition there has been 21 further positive cases notified by schools but had either not been in school whilst infectious or where no contacts were identified.”

The number of burst bubbles has doubled in the last two weeks. On September 3, there were just 16 schools with closed bubbles in the county.
