HALLOWEEN is just around the corner which is the perfect time to go pumpkin picking.

The coronavirus pandemic might have put a holt to most of our Halloween plans but many pumpkin patches are still open for business.

If you’re looking for a great family day out, heading to a pumpkin patch is the best thing to do at this time of year.

The fun continues when you go home and start to carve a spooky face in your chosen pumpkin.

Here are the best pumpkin patches to visit in Worcestershire this year:

Clive’s Fruit Farm
Where: Willingsworth, Clive's Fruit Farm, Upton Upon Severn, Worcester
Price: £2 entry fee

If you want to pick your own pumpkin then this is the ideal place to visit

Clive’s Fruit Farm prides itself on the ‘pick your own’ fruit system in place.

As well as regular orange pumpkins, there are also some white pumpkins to add to your picking collection.

Best of all, no booking is required to pick your own pumpkin at this farm.

However, there will be some strict rules in place to ensure everyone is safe during the pumpkin picking experience.

No more than six people are allowed in one group and masks must be worn at the paying station.

There will also be an extra £2 entry fee to pay for the extra staffing involved with manning the field.

Once you have finished scouring the farm and choosing the biggest and best pumpkin for your needs, then it’s worth looking at the other fruits available at the farm.

They currently have a variety of autumn apples for sale including the cox and bramley variety- perfect if you want to go bobbing for apples.

Bell’s Farm
Where: Stourport-on-Severn
Price: Cost of the pumpkin

This pumpkin patch is a thirty minute drive from Worcester- but it’s well worth the journey if you want a good day out.

At the family-run farm, you have more than 40 acres of fruits and vegetables to choose from- including pumpkins in a variety of different colours.

A representative of the Bells Farm Shop said: “We are keen to encourage people to get out in the fresh air and pick their own pumpkins.

“We have lots of space on the farm for people to walk around so it will be safe for them”.

Best of all, you don’t have to book in advance- simply turn up on the day.

Stanley’s Farm Shop
Where:  Fishers Castle Farm, Sandy Ln, Harvington, Kidderminster
Price: Cost of the pumpkin

If you’re looking for something a little bit different, this could be the ideal farm shop for you to visit.

They have a surprising amount of pumpkins and squash available- including the bon bon squash which has a black exterior.

However, if you do decide to visit this farm you might want to call ahead- if too many people arrive at the same time, you risk being turned away.

Pumpkins aren’t the only thing available at this farm either-  raspberries, leeks, parsnips, carrots, squashes swedes, sprouts and cabbage can also be purchased.
