CHRISTMAS cards featuring drawings of Wolverley's amazing architecture have been selling like hotcakes - and now the villager behind the sketches is making his own 2021 calendar.
Colin Evans has been drawing various buildings around Wolverley since he moved to the village from Sutton Coldfield two years ago and designed a logo for his friend and local business owner Gil Hancox, of Gil's Tearoom.
Colin, 56, told The Shuttle: "Illustrating and writing children’s books has been a long-time hobby of mine and I've been painting people’s houses in my own style for a while. We're very rich with architecture around here, it's fabulous.
"With the pandemic, we've seen a lot of locals who can't get out and my wife Gail suggested making some Christmas cards for people.
"We formulated the idea together - I could do the artwork and she could market them. We decided we could deliver them to people or people could come and pick them up.
"We put a post out on the local Facebook group and it's gone crazy. It's amazing the community spirit in our little village."
Colin and Gail have created eight Christmas card designs including wintery sketches of the two local pubs, The Lock and The Queen's Head, St John's Church, the village's Costcutter and Wolverley CE Secondary School.
In response to the cards' success, the duo have also launched a calendar, featuring more of Colin's sketches of village landmarks. Over 50 have been sold already.
A pack of eight Christmas cards costs £5. Calendars cost £7. Email colin5029@hotmail.co.uk to order.
