I WAS recently asked how I manage to think of something to write about every week; so far I haven’t had any problem what so ever as there is always so much going on at Worcester Live!

This week we have once again reopened the Swan Theatre, by the time this article is printed the theatre will once again be (socially distanced) full of families enjoying the first of our Christmas shows this December.

We have been heartened by our patrons’ desire to return to their local theatre to enhance their festivities. Being part of the community is such a vital part of our ethos and we were delighted to receive some funding to run a project this winter to develop our outreach, especially whilst our live offering is reduced.

Creative Winter will offer many opportunities for our patrons, and the wider community to get creative through the long winter months. The aim of this project is to very much keep the arts alive at a time where this has never been more important and perhaps most difficult to do so.

So far it has been a really enjoyable experience and a good contrast to the environment in which I usually reside, having the gift of selecting from submissions and sourcing work to be able to offer for free is really rather unique.

We are able to offer some wonderful opportunities for people, especially at a time when we are conscious that many people may be struggling to access this cultural form due to the limitations in their own lives.

We hope Creative Winter will offer something for everyone, from workshops, theatre, singing and dance to animation, film, music and lots of special treats along the way!

Creative Winter will run until February 2021 and will be run both digitally and from the Swan Theatre, depending upon the ongoing pandemic.
