A MAN from Kidderminster was fined after he harassed a woman by sending her Facebook messages threatening to kill himself.

Stephen Bateman, 60, of Avon Road, pleaded guilty to harassment at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday, December 10.

The court heard how, between December 15 and December 19 last year, Bateman sent the victim Facebook messages, saying he was going to kill himself and that it was her fault.

Magistrates fined him £60 and ordered him to pay a £32 victim surcharge plus £135 in court costs.

In a case on Wednesday, December 9, a Kidderminster man was given a suspended sentence after he entered Savers in Kidderminster with the intent to steal.

Jason Baker, of Larkhill, Kidderminster, pleaded guilty to entering the shop as a trespasser on April 12 this year, when he intended to commit theft.

The 48-year-old was sentenced to eight weeks in prison, suspended for 14 months.

Magistrates said the offence was made more serious by his previous record of offending.

Baker was also ordered to pay £250 in compensation.

At Worcester Magistrates' Court on December 8, a Cookley man admitted threatening to disclose private images of a woman's partner in Kidderminster.

Melvyn Share, 69, of Bridge Road, pleaded guilty to harassing the woman on September 12 this year by meeting with her in a pub, leaving her a large number of voicemail messages and delivering letters at her house, threatening to disclose private images of her new partner.

Magistrates issued a community order, requiring Share to undergo rehabilitation activity. He was also ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work, pay a £95 victim surcharge and £135 in court costs.

A restraining order was made prohibiting him from contacting the victim.
