COLLEAGUES have paid tribute to former Wyre Forest District Council chairman Mike Salter, who died this week.

Mike served the district council as a councillor for eight years, having been elected to represent the Mitton ward in 2006.

He was also the council's chairman from 2009 to 2010. June, his wife who died in 2019, was also a member of the council from 2000 to 2008.

Mike passed away on the night of Wednesday, January 20.

Current chairman of Wyre Forest District Council, Cllr Shazu Miah, paid tribute to Mike and his "dedicated service to Stourport".

Cllr Miah said: "It is with great sadness that we learned of Mike Salter’s passing.

"Colleagues who served with him refer to his dedicated service to Stourport, and I remember how he used to attend every meeting of full council long after his retirement.

"I would like to send his family and friends the sincere condolences of everyone here at Wyre Forest District Council.”
