A DEDICATED team of volunteers and staff at a brain injury charity in Kidderminster have been hailed as Lockdown Heroes for their hard work maintaining support to their clients during the pandemic.
The team at Headway Worcestershire's Kidderminster branch, based in Whitehouse Road, have had to come up with new ways to support some of the most vulnerable people who have suffered brain injuries in Wyre Forest during the lockdowns.
Volunteers and staff have been supporting clients on a one-to-one basis to ensure their health and wellbeing during the pandemic and have been nominated for our Lockdown Heroes award with Wyre Forest Rotary in recognition of their hard work.
Barbara Sara, of Stourport Rotary Club, presented the Kidderminster team with the award.
She said: "Helping to shape the lives of people who have sustained brain damage is a wonderful thing to do. It requires a lot of expertise and caring people to de this work.
"It so needs continuity when working on a one to one basis so being able to arrange this during Covid and lockdown must have needed a lot lateral thinking, caring people, team work involving experts and volunteers alike, to carry on giving the help, support and continuity they very much need.
"Having said this, Mandie and her team richly deserve this certificate they have received.
"I thank people for putting Headway Worcestershire forward for this certificate. Headway is a charity and people should know about it."
On receiving our Lockdown Heroes Award, Headway Worcestershire CEO Mandie Fitzgerald said: "I am so very proud of our charity, the commitment and passion of our supporters, staff and volunteers give me confidence that anything is possible.
"In these ever-changing times, we have to be creative in our thought processes to equip our charity with the tools to ensure we are able to support and care for our clients through these uncertain times.
"What a lovely surprise to receive this community award in recognition of everyone's dedication and hard work at Headway Worcestershire. A heartfelt thanks to the Rotary and The Kidderminster Shuttle."
