CHILDREN in Bewdley have been sharing the love this Valentine's Day by decorating a tree outside a local care home with colourful hearts.
The staff at Summerdyne Nursing Home in Cleobury Road have been decorating the trees in the grounds throughout the pandemic to bring some cheer to residents and passersby.
When a resident suggested creating a "love tree" for Valentine's Day, the home reached out to the nearby St Anne's Primary School and local childminder Rachel Robinson to see if the children wanted to get involved.
Tracy Calder, a teaching assistant from St Anne's, recruited the help of the school's key worker children to decorate hearts to hang on the tree and also sent photographs of the children to share with Summerdyne's residents.
Youngsters at Rachel Robinsons' childcare group decorated their hearts with colours that meant love to them.
Summerdyne wellbeing and lifestyle co-ordinator Sarah Beard said: "It is very difficult times for everyone at the moment but we feel tremendous excitement that we are still able to come together with our local community to work on projects together and it is our local community that the residents and staff at Summerdyne Nursing Home want to give an enormous shout out to.
"We know things are not going to return to normality for a very long time still but knowing that the local community still get involved and think of us gives us all a boost and brings many smiles to our residents faces, it is such a lovely feeling of being involved and not forgotten about.
"We hope that people passing by will enjoy the tree as much as we do!"
Anyone is welcome to decorate their own heart and attach it to the Summerdye love tree on the nursing home's front drive.
