A 22-YEAR-OLD man from Kidderminster was banned from the road after he admitted driving while under the influence of drugs.

Patrick Evans, of Exeter Close, drove an Audi A3 in Habberley Road on September 4 last year when the proportion of Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol in his blood exceeded the legal limit.

At Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on February 12, he was fined £180 and must also pay a £34 victim surcharge and £135 to the CPS. He was also disqualified from driving for 12 months.

Evans also admitted breaching a community order made by the same court in October, by failing to attend unpaid work, for which he was fined another £100.

In a case at Worcester Magistrates' Court on February 10, a man was found guilty in his absence of driving without the right licence and insurance.

On February 9, Richard Edwards, of Bradford Road, Dudley, drove a Seat Leon 20V Turbo Cupra in New Road when he did not have a licence authorising him to drive a vehicle of that class.

The 35-year-old was also found guilty of driving without the right insurance.

He was fined £220 for the first offence and £660 for the latter.

Edwards must also pay an £88 victim surcharge and £90 in court costs. He was disqualified from driving for six months.

In a separate case at Worcester on February 4, a man from Stourport was fined for driving while under the influence of a controlled drug.

Taylor Lowell, 27, of Moor Hall Lane, admitted driving a BMW in Canada Way in Worcester on August 25 last year when the proportion of Tetrahydrocannabinol in his blood exceeded the legal limit.

Lowell also pleaded guilty to driving without a licence to drive a vehicle of that class.

He was fined £333 and ordered to pay £135 in court costs plus a victim surcharge of £34.

Magistrates banned him from driving for 12 months.
