A PERSONAL trainer is excited to be opening his own studio in his hometown of Halesowen.

Jak Woolley, of Feldon Lane, runs JW Personal Training and is gearing up to open a studio on High Street, Halesowen.

The 27-year-old has transformed an empty unit next to Acorn's Hospice charity shop in the town centre.

It is ready and waiting for the PM's go-ahead for gyms to reopen on April 12.

The dad-of-one thinks this is the perfect time to be opening his first premises and has signed a five-year lease on the unit, which he has fitted out.

Jak said: "The fitness industry is going to be crazy.

"People have struggled at home through the winter, gyms have been closed.

"Lockdown has been tough for us all, especially with the dark nights, lockdown restrictions and not being able to see friends and family and with no gyms.

"People's physical and mental health will be at the lowest point, but now it's time to turn it around with getting back in shape.

"I love the new gym, it's my pride and joy."

The former Lapal Primary and Leasowes pupil has been running his personal training business from his garage at home for the last four years and felt now was the right time to expand.

Jak, who lives with his partner and 18-month-old daughter, has clients whose ages range from 16 to 82.

He has been doing outdoor training and zoom sessions during lockdown.

He does one-to-one sessions and sessions for small groups.

Jak is offering a free week's trial for new clients, which must be booked through the website at www.jwpersonaltraining.co.uk
