THREE Stourport roofers are facing trial on a combined 31 charges relating to repairs at homes in Stourbridge.
The allegations include fraud, harassment, perverting the course of justice and breaches of the Consumer Protection Act.
Two of the men are charged as people trading as J and J Roofing of Worcester Road, Stourport.
The work was on homes at Bernwall Close, and is described as unnecessary, causing irreparable damage, and being of no value.
One of the charges is that the householder was told a Trading Standards investigation into the work had been completed, and they therefore had to pay the bill, when the investigation was still going on.
Black Country magistrates have sent the cases to Wolverhampton Crown Court for trial.
The three men charged are: Simon Lee Harris, aged, 45, trading as J and J Roofing, of Worcester Road, Stourport; Jason Frederick Jones, aged 26, of Power Station Road, Stourport; and Jason William Jones, aged 49, trading as JJ Roofing, of Worcester Road, Stourport.
Harris faces three charges, Jason Frederick Jones faces 12, and Jason William Jones 16.
The charges against Harris are of carrying out unnecessary work which caused damage that caused the householders extra costs at three neighbouring houses in Bernwall Close.
On top of damage charges, additional allegations against the other two men include: not telling people of their cancellation rights; using aggressive practices through the use of harassment, coercion or undue influence; giving false information to a customer about the state of a trading standards investigation.
Jason William Jones faces additional charges of fraud and perverting the course of justice related to claiming that the trading standards investigation was complete and the work was satisfactory; and of approaching a householder when told not to.
The charges date back to May and August 2009. The three were remanded on unconditional bail.
