A 60-YEAR-OLD man from Kidderminster was fined for driving without due care and attention after he struck a pedestrian crossing the road, breaking both of their arms.

Michael Dainton, of St John's Avenue, pleaded guilty to the charge at Worcester Magistrates' Court on March 17.

Dainton was driving a Volkswagen Amarok in Sutton Road in Kidderminster on October 15 when he took a right turn onto Greatfield Road and hit a pedestrian as they were crossing the road.

The victim suffered broken ribs, two broken arms and a broken eye socket.

Dainton was not injured in the collision, but the car sustained a small crack on the offside light cluster.

The court heard how the conditions on the day were clear and bright and it occurred during the daylight.

Magistrates fined Dainton £80 and ordered him to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £110 in court costs.

Six points were added to his licence.

In another case at court that day, a man was fined for speeding in Kidderminster's Wolverhampton Road.

Kingsley Nock, 35, of Keelinge Street in Tipton, admitted driving a Volkswagen car on July 12 at a speed over 30mph.

He was fined £66 and ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge.

Three points were added to his licence.

In a separate case, a Dudley man admitted driving without insurance in Kidderminster.

Sami Ullah, 27, of Himley Road, was fined £120 for driving without insurance in Marlpool Lane on December 27, 2019.

Magistrates also ordered him to pay £142 in costs.

He was disqualified from driving for six months.
