AN old carpet factory in Kidderminster has gone on the market for £950,000, months after plans were approved to turn it into flats.
The former Carpet Manufacturing Company site, known as the Rock Works, in Park Lane was given the go-ahead by Wyre Forest District Council in October to be converted into 22 two-bedroom apartments.
The design submitted for the flats included extending the building upwards to create a fourth storey while maintaining the sawtooth factory roof.
Councillors raised concerns at the time that no undercroft car parking was included in the proposal, however the council's development manager said undercroft parking was considered dangerous from a Highways perspective due to insufficient visibility.
The building dates back to the 1880s but has fallen into a state of disrepair since the carpet factory closed down.
