AN elderly woman has died following a fire at a residential property in Kidderminster this morning (April 19).
Three fire engines were rushed to a home in Park Lane and fire crews tackled the fire using hose reel jets.
Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) were called out to the blaze at around 2.21am this morning. An elderly woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.
West Mercia Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service also attended the incident.
A fire investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway, however at this stage it is not believed to be suspicious.
Group Commander Samantha Pink said: “This was a very unfortunate incident and our thoughts are with the family and friends at this difficult time.
“Incidents like this are a reminder for everyone to ensure they have working smoke alarms on each level of their home and test them on a regular basis.”
A spokesperson from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a property fire on Park Lane at 2.31am, one ambulance, two paramedic officers and our Hazardous Area Response Team attended the scene.
"On arrival we discovered one patient, a woman. Sadly, it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene."
