THE Covid-19 levels continue to drop in Wyre Forest as Worcestershire sees some of the lowest rates in months.

According to public health officials, the county has recorded the lowest figures for many months this week, with Worcestershire rates at 12 per 100,000.

That is the lowest rate of infection since August 2020.

According to the latest published data, in the seven days leading up to April 16, the Covid-19 infection rate in Wyre Forest was 9.9 per 100,00 people.

In Bromsgrove, the rate was 8.0 per 100,00 people. In Redditch the rate was 15.2 per 100,000.

Dr Kathryn Cobain, Director for Public Health for Worcestershire said: “It is really great to see the reduction in the numbers of people testing positive for Covid-19.

"You have all worked so hard to achieve this and I know it hasn’t been easy.

“As shops and premises reopen, it’s lovely to see people enjoying themselves out and about in the spring sunshine. We are now in a very strong position and it’s really important we keep it that way. Nobody wants to see the numbers going back up and their loved ones at risk of being seriously ill.

Please keep following the guidance and only socialise indoors with people you live with or who are in your support bubble. Enjoy meeting up safely and keep to two households or six people outside. Thank you so much, together we are making a huge difference. Let’s keep it going.”
