A NEW purpose-built nursery has opened in Wolverley as part of a £500,000 investment at a village school.

The nursery opened this week for children aged three to five in a self-contained modular building at Wolverley Sebright Primary Academy.

It is the only nursery within the village, following the closure of the privately-run Sebright Cygnets last year, after delays to building works prompted the school to serve notice on the nursery.

The first 22 places at the new Sebright nursery have already been snapped up, with further places available from September.

The modular building, which has been kitted out with toys and activities, also features its own all-weather outdoor play area.

Executive headteacher Shelley Reeves-Walters said: “It has been set up to meet the needs of local families, providing high quality nursery provision and a smooth transition for young children as they move up to primary school.

“We are committed to providing the very best for all our children and the nursery is one the jewels in our crown.”

The building is part of a £500,000 investment in the school by the Severn Academies Educational Trust, which has also seen the creation of seven large refurbished classrooms, with additional rooms for IT, music and intervention groups.
