A MAN from Stourport was arrested after an elderly person was defrauded out of thousands of pounds for building work to his home that he didn’t need.

West Mercia Police has now issued a warning after the elderly man was reported to have been significantly defrauded on Thursday, April 22.

A man in his 30s from Stourport was arrested on suspicion of committing fraud by false representation and has since been released under investigation.

PC Jade Hounsell said: “We are continuing to investigate this case and would ask people to please check with their elderly relatives and friends that they haven’t had a similar experience and if so to please get in touch with us.

”Please remember to check who you are answering your door to, always obtain two separate quotes and be aware of the 7 day cooling off period that contractors are obliged by.
