AN apprenticeship provider is calling on Cumbrian businesses to help promote opportunities in the county.

The Carlisle-based firm System People has launched ‘Earn and Learn’ to offer young people a step-by-step guide to choosing, securing, and doing their dream apprenticeship.

It has reported an 18 per cent increase in learners going into immediate employment on completing their apprenticeship in 2020, a 71 per cent distinction rate for teaching assistant apprenticeships and 12 per cent increase in distinctions in 2020.

Businesses that have already pledged their support to help young people include Carlisle Youth Zone, Lloyd Motor Group, Peter Tysons, Online Systems, Gelt Gladiator, David Allen Accountants, Slater Tanning Studio and Groundwork Cumbria.

Lloyd Motor Group said: “We have hired apprentices in the past, know that they can be advantageous for a young person starting their career and want to help support the apprentice community in Cumbria.

"Check out this campaign from our friends System People Education who are able to give you more information.”

Lyndsey Fitheridge, commercial director at System People, said: “We know that so many young people and their families aren't properly aware and educated on apprenticeships – and we think it's time to debunk the myth that university is the only path to career success and high pay."

The company offers a variety of apprenticeships in childcare, education, business and professional services. It also specialises in recruitment and training and offers courses in mental health first aid.
