THE team at Wollaston's popular Kingsbridge Bar were "over the moon" to welcome back customers yesterday after five months of closure due to lockdown.

Customers were able to enjoy drinks and a bite to eat inside the relatively new micro bar from yesterday (Monday May 17) as coronavirus lockdown restrictions eased to permit indoor drinking and dining.

The village bar on the corner of King Street and Bridgnorth Road had only been open for a few weeks from September 2020 before it was forced to shut its doors in December due to lockdown.

Steph Brown, who co-owns the venture with her husband Lee Brown along with relatives Abi and Jason Thomas, said the closure so soon after launching had been a "devastating blow to our new business" and it came shortly after Dudley Council declined planning permission for an outside area to be used as a beer garden.

But glasses were raised on Monday as the venue was able to welcome back delighted customers and Steph said: "We are over the moon to be able to reopen our doors again after being closed for five months."

She said yesterday had been a "fantastic first day serving the local people of Wollaston" and she added: "Lots of regulars returned to try our amazing cobs and cake and sample a craft beer or two.

"Four ladies even turned up on Boris Bikes to enjoy their first drink together.

"Our venue maybe small but it is beautiful inside.

"Our brilliant and friendly team are bursting with ideas and ready to get back to doing what they do best."

The bar is open for walk-ins. Bookings are not required.Stourbridge News:

To help encourage people to spend their money locally as businesses emerge from months of restrictions and closure - we have relaunched our Love Local Business campaign.

This follows our successful campaign, of the same name, which we ran in the News Group last summer and over Christmas.

The aim is to promote the fantastic traders we have in our towns and urge readers to give them their custom at this key time.

As part of the Newsquest publishing group, the Stourbridge News reaches a large percentage of the local population with its print publication, record online audiences and social media.

Businesses wishing to be featured in the campaign can call 01905 742372 or email dale.godliman@localiq.co.uk.
