OFFICERS are appealing for witnesses after a man was punched in the face and had his car smashed up in Redditch.

The serious assault happened on Birchfield Road on Saturday evening (May 15) between 9pm and 9.20pm when the victim stopped in his car, a white Toyota Verso, outside a property.

A black BMW 3 series then pulled up in front of the victim’s vehicle and three men got out.

One suspect hit the victim’s car with a metal pole, smashing the driver door window.

The same suspect opened the driver’s door and punched the victim in the face, causing a tooth to fall out. The victim then ran away from the car and shouted for help.

Two other suspects continued to hit and smash all the windows of the vehicle.

Detective Sergeant Ash Kumar said: “Residents from a nearby house came out after hearing the victim’s calls for help and it was at this point the suspects got back into the BMW and drove off. We would like to appeal to anyone who saw what happened or has any information relating to the incident, to get in touch with us.

“We’d also like to hear from anyone who might have seen the black BMW in the area on Saturday evening or may have dash-cam footage. This was a particularly violent assault and we are appealing to the local community to come forward if they have information that might help with our investigation."
