COUNCIL bosses have teamed up with a marketing company for a campaign to urge people to stick to Covid rules as tourism reopens.

Wyre Forest District Council has joined forces with public relations experts Citizen Communication for the publicity drive, entitled Keep Playing Your Part.

The move comes as the region’s many tourist attractions begin to return to business after months in lockdown.

A photo and video shoot showing off the area’s top attractions, such as the Severn Valley Railway and West Midlands Safari Park, has been compiled, and adverts urging people to keep washing their hands, wear a face mask and socially distance have been posted in local papers and on the side of council refuse collection lorries.

Kim Neville, Wyre Forest District Council communications and engagement officer, said: “We are very happy to be working on this very important public health information campaign with such a positive and creative team, who are based within the district and have an in-depth knowledge of the local area.”

Charlotte Holmes, Citizen Communication client services director, said: “The past year has been very difficult for people and it is therefore understandable how eager residents and visitors are to reunite properly with friends and family and return to nearby spots of natural beauty and tourist attractions.

“It is our hope this project will help raise awareness of the importance of complying with the rules as we look to take a cautious yet irreversible step closer to normality.”
