STOURPORT bridge is set to close again - just two weeks after it closed for emergency sewer works.

The bridge will be closed from 7am July 5 to later on in the day on July 6.

Severn Trent will be using specialist equipment to deal with an environmental issue.

A Severn Trent spokesperson said: “To allow for emergency sewer repairs to continue, we will be closing the bridge leading into Stourport on the A451 for two days next week, Monday (5 July) and Tuesday (6 July).

“We know this might cause disruption, and we’d like to apologise if it does, but this is emergency work and the closure of the bridge will allow for the teams to safely make the repairs needed to fix the sewer, while keeping everyone else safe.

“We’ve worked closely with the local council on the closure, and will be providing a fully sign posted diversion, and while the bridge will still be available for pedestrians to use, anyone travelling by vehicle and uses this route may want to plan ahead for their journeys to avoid any issues.

“Again, we’re incredibly sorry for the issues caused, and want to thank everyone for their patience while we work on this complicated repair. It is our absolute priority to carry out the repair as quickly and as safely as possible, with a view of opening the bridge and getting everything back to normal as soon as we can.”
