A KIDDERMINSTER field is being cleaned up after travellers set up camp on the land for a week.

A number of caravans have now left the playing field off Heronswood Road, near Spennells Valley Nature Reserve.

Council officers visited the field earlier this week and served a notice after the travellers were told to vacate the land.

Spennells resident and leader of Wyre Forest District Council Helen Dyke thanked enforcement officers for their work.

The council leader has now confirmed that a clean-up operation has started and the entrance to the field will be secured.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "Local police have been working closely with the council with regards to this incident.

"The site is now clear and we have as yet received no reports of damage or any attributable crime."
