WYRE Forest District Council has transferred ownership of Stourport Riverside paddling pool to the town council but remains closed due to 'health and safety issues'.

As part of plans by Wyre Forest District Council to mitigate financial issues and protect community services, the paddling pool has been handed over to Stourport Town Council.

Back in 2017 it was agreed parish and town councils would take ownership and control of some services as part of Wyre Forest's Localism scheme.

A spokesperson for Stourport Town Council said: "We are delighted to announce that Stourport Town Council is now in full ownership of the Riverside Paddling Pool.

"Unfortunately, we have a number of Health and Safety issues that need to be resolved, to enable our visitors to enjoy this great facility.

"Please rest assured that behind the scenes we are working extremely hard to get these addressed as quickly as possible."

Stourport Town Council say they are 'finalising things' as transference of the paddling pool has only occurred in the last few days.
