A MAN is fighting for his life after he suffered a head injury during a night out in Birmingham city centre.

The 50-year-old man was struck with an object during a fracas in Brindley Place, off Broad Street at around 1.30am this morning (Sunday August 29).

He was taken to hospital after falling to the floor unconscious after the blow where police said his condition is described as "potentially life threatening."

Police appealed for several people who may have filmed the incident on their phones to get in touch.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We’ve launched an investigation, have spoken to witnesses and are in the process of seizing CCTV to identify who’s involved.

"The area was very busy and we believe several people may have been filming the disorder on their phones.

"Did you see anything or record the fight on your phone? If so, please get in touch as you could have important evidence.
