AS we move closer to Christmas, Wyre Forest District Council is reminding residents of changes to council services.

This is what you need to know about services over the festive season.

Bin Collections

There are no planned changes to rubbish or recycling collections over Christmas or New Year.

Wyre Forest District Council is reminding residents to make sure their bin is out for collection at 6am.

Any extra recycling can be put out in an open bag or box as normal.

The Hub

The Hub, the council’s customer service centre, will be closed to visitors from Friday 24 December and reopens on Tuesday 4 January 2022. Phone lines will be open between 10am and 4pm on Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 December.

Doing it online is the quickest, easiest and most convenient way to access council services. Wyre Forest District Council’s website and My Wyre Forest mobile app and web portal are all available 24 hours, 7 days a week. There is also a contact us page full of useful information on the council’s website - www.wyreforestdc.gov.uk/contactus.

Parking

The free parking at all council-owned car parks from 3pm until 8am the next day offer is on until Sunday 2 January 2022.

Bewdley Museum

Bewdley Museum closes its doors on Friday 24 December and partly reopens on Tuesday 1 February 2022 with the gift shop, Garden Kitchen Café and walkway into the gardens welcoming visitors again. The museum fully reopens on Saturday 5 March 2022.

Regulatory Services

Worcestershire Regulatory Services’ phone lines will be closed from Friday 24 December and will reopen Wednesday 29 December until Friday 31 December, 9am until 5pm. Phone lines will also be closed Monday 3 January 2022 and reopen on Tuesday 4 January 2022 at 9am.

Recycling Centres

Household recycling centres in the district, managed by Worcestershire County Council, will be closed for three days; Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. If residents need to visit the household recycling centre, they are being reminded to avoid these three days and to not fly-tip by leaving items outside the gates.

Councillor Helen Dyke, Leader of Wyre Forest District Council said: “I hope everyone has a safe and fun Christmas and New Year. It has been another challenging year but there is a lot going on in the district over the festive period for residents to enjoy.”
