Thousands of Worcestershire homes have been left without power following a network fault this morning. 

As many as 1,600 properties in the DY13 and WR2 postcodes were affected by the outage which occurred due to an issue on the high voltage network in the area.

Western Power Distribution says it is working to re-route the supplies and restore the network, and predicts the issue will be resolved by midday. 

A spokesperson for Western Power Distribution said: "We have a fault on the high voltage network in the area.

"At present we are re-routing the supplies to get them restored, we have no further info at this stage sorry. Apologies for any inconvenience."

At present, it says around 300 homes are still without power.
