TWO men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a "serious assault" in Worcester which has left two other men injured.

Police were called to Wyld's Lane in Worcester at 3.20pm today (January 11) following reports of a serious assault.

Two men were injured during the incident and have been transferred to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham by ambulance.

One of the victims, a 49-year-old man, is reported to have suffered serious injuries.

Two men, aged 23 and 48, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and are in police custody.

There is a heavy police presence in the area tonight whilst investigations continue. This is likely to remain for some time.

Insp Fergus Green, said: “We understand that incidents of this nature, and a large police presence, can be concerning for the public.

"I would like to reassure residents that we believe this to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the wider community.”
