AN Indian restaurant has been handed a new five-out-of-five food hygiene rating.

Cafe Masala Restaurant & Takeaway, on Mill Street, Kidderminster, was given the maximum score after assessment on January 11, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.

Food handling, including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage, cleanliness and condition of facilities, and food safety management, was found to be good by inspectors.

A hygiene rating of 0 means urgent improvement is required; 1 means "major improvement is necessary."

A 2 star rating means "some improvement is necessary", while 3 star means "hygiene standards are generally satisfactory" and 4 star means "hygiene standards are good."

A 5 star rating means "hygiene standards are very good."

It means that of Wyre Forest's 119 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 78 (66 per cent) have ratings of five and just one has a zero rating.
