A PLAN to open a new tattoo studio at the historic Toll House in Stourport has been approved.

A planning application was put forward by Kidderminster's Nemesis Ink to change the use of an office at the Dunley Road site into a tattoo studio last year.

The Toll House is a late 19th century building which was built at the same time as the Stourport bridge.

According to the planning officer: "The proposal does not adversely impact on the property and is simply for a change of use.

"No internal or external development have been proposed and the change of use does not impact adversely on highways.

"The proposal is therefore considered to be acceptable and policy compliant."

The historic building, which had also housed the police station and town prison, became a cafe during the war and later an amusement arcade, before falling into disuse for many years.

More recently, it has been a doctor's surgery, light engineering works and the grounds were even used as a bus turning bay.
