HEREFORD Lads Club enjoyed a goal glut this weekend as they thrashed Calne Town 6-2.

The Widemarsh Common side made it three wins in a row in the Hellenic Premier League, with Tom Dawson (2), Kiea Cowley (2), Jordan Burke and Adam Newbury on the scoresheet.

It was Calne who took the lead, though, after a lofted clearance was poorly dealt with by the home side. Oscar Webster beat two men and squeezed past ‘keeper Steven Bell.

Dawson levelled up well after intricate play in Calne third, meeting a lofted cross with a well-guided header into the bottom corner.

Adam Newbury’s delightful curling effort from range then put Lads Club in front before half-time.

Lads Club carved open the Calne defence again after the break. A chipped through ball to Dawson saw him nudge past the visitors’ stopper to double their lead. Burke made it four on the volley from a set-piece shortly afterwards.

Declan McStravick pulled back a goal back, only for it to be cancelled out once more – this time by Kiea Cowley, who on his return bagged for the home side.

Cowley scored another to finish off the job.
