ORGANISERS of a benefit concert for Ukrainian refugees are heartbroken after being left with no choice but to cancel the fundraiser.

Ella and Steve Low, from Stourport, were set to host a seven-hour show in aid of charities supporting people fleeing from war in Ukraine.

Many talented musicians from Wyre Forest were set to take to the Stourport Civic stage on Saturday, April 9.

But the event has now been cancelled due to poor ticket sales.

In a post on Facebook, Ella Row said: "It is with a heavy heart I inform you that our benefit concert had to be cancelled, due to very low ticket sales.

"May I take this opportunity to thank those of you who have helped and supported Steve Low and I with putting this together."

Ella, originally from Romania, which borders Ukraine, added: “I’m absolutely heartbroken. It’s very disappointing.

“I have done everything to make this happen. I’m lost for words.”

The chosen charities were Metropolis Foundation and Adra Association, which offer shelter, food and medicine to aid refugees, as well as send convoys to bring women and children across the border safely.

Tickets were priced at £12 (£15 at the door) and only 32 were sold.

The Civic will now be refunding tickets, although people have the option to donate the cost of the ticket to the cause.
