A MAJOR planning application to build up to 145 new homes in Stourport has been lodged.

The proposals have been put forward by Gladman Developments, with the houses earmarked for fields at Areley Common in Astley Cross.

Previously, an application for 125 homes at the site was submitted, but this was refused by Malvern Hills District Council and Wyre Forest District Council in 2017.

Reasons for the plan's rejection included insufficient information relating to its impact on protected species, the risk of surface water flooding, and concerns over changes to the appearance of the landscape.

In the current plan, the developers have highlighted that 40 per cent of the homes will be 'affordable,' and will help both Malvern Hills and Wyre Forest District Councils meet their housing targets.

A children's play area is also part of the plan as well as the landscaping of new open spaces.

It is proposed that the site will be accessed off the Areley Common road.
