TWICE mayor of Bewdley, Derek Killingworth, has been elected as Bewdley Town councillor in a by-election. 

Conservative Councillor Killingworth, who served as Mayor of Bewdley in 2009 and 2014, was the victor in the Wribbenhall ward by-election. 

The newly-elected councillor said he was delighted and thanked the Wyre Forest Conservatives for their help. 

"I couldn't have done it on my own, he said. 

"We've just got to get on and get some work done".

Wyre Forest MP Mark Garnier congratulated Councillor Killingworth. 

In a Tweet, the MP said: "Great result here in Wyre Forest. Conservative gain in Bewdley Town Council by-election with 49% of the vote. 

"Congratulations Cllr Derek Killingworth."

Councillor Killingworth received 532 votes, with Labour's Colin Billett receiving 400 and Mattie Viner from the Green Party received 155 votes.
