SUPERMARKET giants Aldi have now submitted plans to build a brand new store in Stourport.

The proposal includes demolishing the Minerva Point building, off Worcester Road, and building the new discount supermarket, as well as four start-up employment units and car parking.

Aldi announced plans for a new Stourport store in October 2021 and launched a consultation to give residents a say on the design of the new development.

The design and access statement says: “It is anticipated that up to 40 new jobs will be created within the store. It is Aldi‘s policy to recruit locally, with equal opportunities for all staff.

“The construction phase will involve around 100 construction operatives”.

Aldi has also said that the development would be an efficient use of the brownfield site and would be “well placed” to service the new housing growth in Stourport.

Plans were recently passed to build a new housing estate on brownfield land next to the Minerva Point site.
