THE new chairman of Wyre Forest District Council has been sworn in.
Councillor Peter Dyke was made chairman at a full council meeting on Wednesday, May 11.
He has been a councillor for 24 years and currently represents Aggborough and Spennells. He takes over from outgoing chairman Councillor John Aston.
As the chairman, Councillor Dyke will represent the district at a wide range of functions across the district, including community and charity events and formal openings.
He will also chair council meetings and work throughout the year to raise money for charity.
He said: “I am honoured to be taking up the role of chairman and representing the district council at events and functions. I am also looking forward to raising money for my chosen charities. I will be fundraising for Wyre Forest Talking Newspaper and Kidderminster and District Youth Trust.”
Councillor Calne Edginton-White, who represents Bewdley and Rock, will be vice chairman for the municipal year.
