A BY-election is set to take place next month following the resignation of a Wyre Forest District councillor.

It's to fill the Franche and Habberley North ward vacancy on the council, with the election being held on Thursday, June 16.

Anna L’Huillier previously resigned as a councillor after voicing concerns about Wyre Forest’s new Local Plan, which was approved by the council last month.

Poll cards will be sent to those registered to vote in the Franche and Habberley North ward.

The polling stations being used are Kidderminster Baptist Church on Franche Road (entrance in Marlpool Place), Franche Community Church in Chestnut Grove and St Barnabas Community Hall on Wolverley Road.

Electors are asked to check their poll cards for details of their polling station. Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm.

Those who are not already registered to vote have until midnight on Friday, May 27 to apply. People can apply via www.gov.uk/registertovote, providing a national insurance number and date of birth.

Those who are registered to vote in the ward can request a postal vote and completed applications must be received no later than 5pm on Monday, May 30.

The candidates for the seat will be announced by 4pm on Thursday, May 19. The statement of persons nominated will be able to be viewed at www.wyreforestdc.gov.uk/electioninformation

The count will take place after polling stations close on Thursday, June 16.
