Is there anything more British than an afternoon tea?
Well, if there is it can wait as today is International Tea Day.
According to the United Nations’ website, International tea Day was established to promote sustainable production and consumption and raise awareness of its importance in fighting hunger and poverty.
So, it only seems logical to celebrate the occasion by picking out some of the top tearooms Worcestershire has to offer.
The Polka Dot Teapot
The only five star rated tearoom according to Google, this tearoom claims to offer a “quintessentially English” experience.
Located in the village of Elmley Castle, not far from Pershore, The Polka Dot Teapot offers a selection of hot and cold drinks, cakes, cupcakes, milkshakes, Cotswold cream teas, and even a traditional sweet shop.

G&Tea
Located on one of Worcester’s most historic and picturesque streets, G&Tea offers a variety of loose leaf teas, homemade cakes and scones and of course an afternoon tea.
But perhaps the showpiece of this tearoom is the gin teapot cocktails.
The Friar Street establishment also hosts a function room for special occasions and is looking to introduce new activities such as beauty treatments and jewellery making workshops.

Auntie Em’s Tea & Toy Emporium
Perhaps the perfect option for parents, Auntie Em’s must be one of the only tearooms to boast a play area for the littluns.
Perched in City Arcade, guests here can enjoy a cream tea before exploring the toy shop upstairs.
Better yet, more seating will be opening soon!

The Twisted Spoon
The team at The Twisted Spoon say the idea came to them when they were struggling to find somewhere for a late breakfast after oversleeping.
They realised that at certain times of the day, finding somewhere to grab a bite could prove a challenge in Worcestershire.
They also wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, so decided to open up shop in Upton Snodsbury.

The Bluebird Tea Rooms
This family-owned tearoom offers the perfect pitstop for anyone heading on a walk of the Malvern Hills.
Bluebird claims to be one of the longest established tea rooms in the area, having served visitors for over 110 years.
Sat above Elts Shoe Shop offers views of the Malvina Spring and a statue of the county’s most famous resident, Edward Elgar.
