BMW crashes into house near Bath Road

A man driving a BMW crashed into the home completely destroying a garden wall.

A garden wall was reduced to a pile of rubble with garden furniture lying scattered.

A silver BMW was left with the front bumper almost hanging off and one of the wheels completely destroyed.

A woman, who was looking after the house today (Friday) while the owner was at work following the crash at 5.30am, said: “The car was completely written off I assume.

“It did a lot of damage to the vehicle and the wall as well.”

She added that the driver was taken away by police.

Her husband added: “I think he went into the petrol station and drove off and lost control.

“A lot of big cars come down this road at high speed.”

Worcester News has contacted West Mercia Police for a comment and is awaiting a reply.

The damage caused to the property

A neighbour living opposite the house at St Wulstans Court, off Bath Road, said: “I was in bed but my husband was literally walking out the door when he heard the car go out of control and hit the building.

“He went over and the driver got out but he didn’t seem to be speaking much.

“I was watching from the window and the police put him in a van and took him away.”

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 5.28am to reports of a single-car RTC on Bath Road, Worcester.

“An ambulance and paramedic officer attended.

“One patient, the driver, declined ambulance treatment and was left in the care of police.”

The garden wall around the property was almost completely destroyed

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service also attended and had to ensure the building was safe.

A spokesperson said: “Three crews – two from Worcester and one from Droitwich – were called at 05:36am.

“The incident involved an RTC with one vehicle colliding with a building.

“There were no persons trapped but there was structural damage to the property and advice was given to the occupier.

“There were no casualties.”

Witnesses say the driver was taken away by police

It is not known how the crash occurred but neighbours also raised concerns about speeding along the road.

A neighbour added: “It is a good job that it was at half five and no one was around because if he hit someone it would have been awful.

“People come round the corner and just speed right up.

“I can’t believe no one has been knocked over before.”
