TRIBUTES have been paid to a Kidderminster businessman who has died at the age of 85.

Peter Horton of Hillgrove Crescent, Kidderminster, was the Co-Founder of Veldonn Printers Ltd. Veldonn started in 1969 on Radford Avenue and was later moved to Clensmore Street in 1974, where it has remained ever since.

He was also the owner of The Button Badge Company, one of the largest badge manufacturers in the UK, which he purchased in 1984.

In 2001, he started A2B Couriers Ltd, a same-day courier service which is still in operation today.

Mr Horton's son Dale took over the running of the businesses after he eventually stepped back in 1996.

His grandson Toby is now the third generation to be involved in the family business.

A spokesperson for Veldonn said: "Although Pete had retired, he remained a very big part of the Veldonn Group.

"He will be sadly missed by us all".

In his spare time, Mr Horton spent many years on the executive committee for the local Scouts Group, and was heavily involved in fundraising.

He helped to raise thousands of pounds over the years for many clubs and charities, including the Scouts, and was always ready to help in any way he could.

Mr Horton died on May 6 and is survived by 2 sons, 5 grandsons, and a great-granddaughter.

The funeral is to be held at St Mary’s Church, on Tuesday 14th June at 1.30pm.
