STOURPORT pub The Kings Arms was the setting of a reunion between former boxing star Bunny Johnson and two of his toughest opponents from around 50 years ago.

Jamaican-born Bunny, aged 75, who now lives in Birmingham, is in the record books as the first black British heavyweight champion before dropping down to his natural light heavyweight division, where he won that title and the Lonsdale Belt outright.

During his career he boxed Leicester based fighters Rocky Campbell twice and Harry White, winning all three bouts by knockout and on points.

Harry contacted former boxer turned writer Jerry Hjelter, asking if he could arrange the meeting.

The meeting was arranged and Rocky, Harry, together with former boxers Dave Chilli and Lyn Hurst travelled to Stourport for an emotional reunion, particularly Rocky, he recalled being knocked out in the 9th round in the first meeting but going the distance before losing on points in the return.
